Industry's Broadest UV Masterbatch Line

Ultraviolet radiation not only diminishes the irresistible good looks of crops, it may also reduce plant growth, alter taste and shrink harvest yields. One study of 100 varieties of plants in 12 crops estimated that potential economic losses from a 5-percent increase in UV could result in crop yield losses of about $90 million a year and a 20-percent increase in losses of about $400 million.

Chemplast's UVflex masterbatch product line offers high-performance ultraviolet light stabilizers and antioxidant technologies for plastics and for the vulnerable — and valuable — crops they protect.

In conjunction with Cytec Industries Inc. and Ciba Specialties Chemicals — both leaders in specialty chemicals and materials technology — Chemplast summons nearly a half-century of plastics expertise and a fundamental understanding of the chemistries involved in polymer stabilizing systems to bring these superior UV-protection agents to market.

Through a joint development program tailored to your customers’ requirements, UVflex employs these companies’ innovative raw material technologies to help you achieve optimal durability and processing characteristics — and boost the value of your products.

PRODUCTION & COMMERCIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Letdown
Normal letdown for UVflex is between 5% and 6%, depending on the UV radiation of the area and the expected life of the product.

Expected Lifespan
The lifespan of plastics protected by Chemplast’s UVflex masterbatches depend on many factors, such as thickness, radiation and heat. For example, a greenhouse film with 5% to 6% content of UVflex masterbatch may be expected to last between 18 months and 24 months. Your sales representative can give you more precise estimates based on your needs.

Lead Times
For products that must be manufactured, please allow 30 to 45 days. However, we do stock an adequate inventory in our own plant and our distributors’ warehouses, which can reduce that time to eight days or less.
